Microblading is a technique of cosmetic tattooing that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hairs. It is done by using tiny needles to deposit cosmetic pigment into the second layer of the skin. The unique formation of the needles allows the artist to create the look of real voluminous eyebrows using a 1 by 1 technique. Microblading is the key in creating the fluffy brow look.

UNSUITABLE SKIN TYPES FOR MICROBLADING

  • Very oily skin and/or very large pores on your forehead. Excessively oily skin may reject the pigment or strokes may heal very powdery/ fuzzy with loss of detail. It may need frequent touch-ups. Ombre shading or a combination brow is a good replacement
  • Pencil-thin brows. We cannot be creative when microblading brows that are pencil-thin
  • Heavily sun-damaged
  • Very delicate, fragile, sensitive or problematic skin. Skin conditions like EczemaPsoriasisRosacea, heavy Melasma etc that are present on the face will affect retention and longevity of microbladed brows
  • (Please read our faqs on cosmetic brows for more reasons on why you may not be suitable for a cosmetic tattoo)

MICROBLADING AFTERCARE

Microblading post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows. Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first seven days after your microblading procedure.

DAY 1 (DAY OF TREATMENT)

2-3 hours after treatment, gently clean the area with a very small amount of sterile water on a cotton pad. This should be just barely damp, not wet. Also, apply a very thin breathable layer of Skin Candy cream. This is a gentle antiseptic cream which assists in the skin’s natural healing process. It will prevent infections and scabbing and will hydrate and soothe the tattooed area. Do this every two hours today to avoid build-up of blood/lymph on the area.

DAY 2 & 3

You can stop wiping your brows with sterile water now. Continue to apply the Skin Candy every few hours at least 4 times each day on days 2 and 3.

You may apply a very small amount of the aftercare ointment to your brows using a cotton swab. This should be a very small amount; half the size of a grain of rice for both brows. This is just to add a small amount of moisture. Brows should not appear greasy, glossy or shiny. If they do, you have used too much.

Do not use aggressive movement/manipulation of the skin – be gentle. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your brows.

Continue to use the aftercare ointment for 14 days post-treatment, using less as the days go on.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING DURING ALL 14 DAYS FOLLOWING YOUR MICROBLADING PROCEDURE:

  • Increased sweating
  • Practising sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • UV/UVA Rays or chemicals are known to cause a shift in colour and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
  • Picking, peeling or scratching of the micro-pigmented area. This avoids scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning, where there is a lot of airborne debris. This includes garage or basement cleaning
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab
  • Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the showerhead or take a bath.
  • Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post-microblading procedure. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear.
  • If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin following your microblading, please contact AF Brow immediately, to discuss further instructions.
